Tim is a former cancer patient with a commitment to patient empowerment and community engagement. He has applied the expertise he gained as a patient to inform professional and committee roles in health and is now studying the potential impact of patient empowerment in a PhD. Tim is also a former circus and street theatre artist.
Tim has been able to apply the communications skills he developed through his performance roles to roles on the Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board and the Children’s Health and Wellbeing Board, both in Sheffield. He is an advocate for patient and community involvement in the design and delivery of health and social care services.
Through managing a local community health organisation ‘Healthworks’ Tim researched, helped design and coordinated the development and delivery of asset based health and wellbeing projects and initiatives. Management roles with three other charities have provided Tim with a good overview of a wide range of initiatives that can be effective.
