Margaret, carer for her husband who has Alzheimer’s disease enjoyed a career in the NHS as a RGN and general manager prior to becoming Executive Director of a patient safety organisation, ALARM in 1999.

Also in 1999 she became a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and was later a council member, Vice President and is a now life fellow.

Margaret has many years of involvement with the voluntary and community sector. She is currently an Ambassador for Carers UK, volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Society, carer member of the Dementia Action Alliance and a dementia friend and dementia champion.

She chairs a health centre patient participation group and also an ‘experts by experience’ group for carers of people with dementia.  She holds a representational carer/user role on various committees influencing strategy, commissioning and provision.

Margaret is also a research team member for a major dementia research project, Modelling Dementia (MODEM).
